PlayStation Showcase 2022 recap: KOTOR Remake, Spider-Man 2, Wolverine and Gran Turismo 7
The PlayStation Showcase 2021 is now over, and we've been given a ton of details on a agglomeration of new games, including Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake, God of War: Ragnarok, Spider-Man two and Wolverine. Merely beyond these major heavy-hitters, there were a ton of other very interesting titles, including new IPs that could exist worth actress attention.
The showcase included interesting titles like Project Eve, Forspoken, Ghostwire: Tokyo and Tchia.
Sony really came to fight with this showcase. Considering that Sony has a very light holiday flavor this year, particularly with Horizon Forbidden West existence pushed to 2022, the company needed to evidence a lot to keep fans excited. While Death Stranding: Director's Cut is cool, it's non likely a game to go fans excited, especially if they played the game in 2019. The lack of original PS5 games was also a disappointment.
Of the titles that particularly excited u.s. was Projection Eve by Korean developer Shift Up Corporation. The game has a lot of Bayonetta vibes given information technology's heavy use of action. Forspoken, by Luminous Productions, a studio under Square Enix, is bringing a huge AAA experience. Stylistically, information technology differs greatly from the anime-esque games Foursquare Enix has been known for. Merely looks fantastically ballsy, and shows that the Japanese studio is willing to do something far outside expectations.
- PS5 restock update: Track right now
- The best PS5 games
- Plus: Almost every PS5 game at the PlayStation Showcase 2021 was a sequel and that sucks
How to watch PlayStation Showcase 2021 alive
The showcase took place on Thursday, September nine. The livestream is now over, but PlayStation volition likely update its YouTube channel with the full video. Nosotros'll update this page once information technology's live.

And so today'south the large day that Sony volition show use what it has in store for the PS5 this fall.
And going by this Twitter postal service, it looks like we could get our starting time glance at Alan Wake Remastered on the PS5. That should become fans of creepy Twin Peaks-Fashion horror all excited.

Fan-made renders of a "PlayStation Portable" are doing the rounds, with the person who shared them claiming Sony volition denote such a device today.
However, these are not official renders from Sony, nor are they seemingly based on any leaked data. So we don't look to see a PS Vita successor today. But the concept is cool.
Every bit, don't await to see the PS5 Pro either, though a more reliable tipster has claimed Sony is working on an upgraded PS5 and that it'll brand its debut 2023 at the earliest.
But do expect to hear updates from both large and modest PlayStation developers. It'll be interesting to run across what indie games Sony might have on the PS5 roster.
There'southward a lot of excitement around a potential God of War: Ragnarok reveal, across simply a proper name. And we're totally here for it!

We're wondering if Sony volition requite us any update on PS5 restock and how information technology might tackle the problems with buying the console nearly a year later its release. Sadly, PS5 restocks are set to be a bit grim until 2023, and then we're non sure we can look whatsoever good news.
Sony'south own hype for the PlayStation Showcase doesn't give usa much of a inkling as to what to expect. But information technology looks cool.

Samuel Prince a senior editor at offset-party developer Naughty Dog, has somewhat teased the developers involvement in PlayStation Showcase. Could nosotros end upwards seeing a brand new game from Naughty Dog, or the return of Uncharted. Or perhaps some big update to The Final of Us ii?
Browsing Twitter, there'due south not much to report. There are fans that are hoping to go a new Jak and Daxter game, merely given the decrease in popularity of mascot platformers, it seems unlikely.
Either fashion, this is a disquisitional showcase for Sony. With Horizon Forbidden West existence pushed to 2022, Sony doesn't have any major games for the holiday flavor. We doubt that Expiry Stranding: Director'southward Cut, an updated game from 2019, will satisfy longtime PlayStation fans. Simply Microsoft, on the other mitt, has both Forza Horizon v and Halo Infinite, both of which will be major Game Pass hits.
According to Video Game Chronicles, at that place's a Twisted Metal video game in development to coincide with the TV series that's reportedly in the works (via Diverseness) with Sony Pictures, being penned past the Deadpool writers.
The news initially came via journalist Jeff Grubb on the Giant Flop Video Show (behind paywall). In it, Grubb said, "I think Twisted Metal is in the works but information technology may even so be a ways off, so I think we're early. That speaks to a larger strategy shift from Sony – well, it'southward not even a shift, it's a 'broadening' of their strategy."
"If they accept Twisted Metal ready to show [at Thursday'south Showcase], they might. But either way, information technology does seem like it's in the works, information technology does seem that it's coming, and information technology does seem like information technology does not involve David Jaffe."
And so yeah, maybe Sony will show off Twisted Metal. Only time will tell.
A new Twisted Metal game is in development to coincide with the upcoming Tv set series, @JeffGrubb reports. This matches what I've heard separately from my own sources.https://t.co/hFGRts3LEYSeptember ix, 2021
